Digital Comics

Though some collectors view buying and storing digital comics on devices as a safe way to preserve comics, digital records also have preservation and care issues.

Multiple platforms

  • Though Digital comic platforms such as Marvel and DC allows one to sync digital comics across multiple devices, there are issues of the deterioration of data, corrupt files, and even loss data.

  •  Some publishers such as Image Inc.,  have switched to DRM-free purchase. Meaning that every comic the consumer purchases is theirs to download read back up and keep on any device they see fit.

  • Other publishers  such as Comixology (Marvel, DC) have not switched to DRM –free. Thus, the comic purchased can only be read in an approved comic reader application. This ensures that the publishers still has intellectual control of the comic book.
